Waco Soccer Club Relaunches With Plan to Restore Minor League Soccer in Waco

WACO, Texas — Waco Soccer Club has officially announced its relaunch and a long-term vision to restore sustainable minor league soccer to the city.

Formerly known as FC Waco, the organization has rebranded as Waco Soccer Club to reflect a unified, community-centered, and professional direction for the future of the sport in Central Texas. The relaunch represents a strategic reset and a renewed commitment to building a competitive and lasting presence in the Waco market.

Founded in 2018 as a grassroots club and one of the founding members of the Texas Division of the United Premier Soccer League, the organization rapidly expanded to include 18 youth teams at its peak. Operations paused following the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly impacted facilities access and long-term sustainability.

Founder Jarrod Barton says the return is intentional and built on reflection and preparation.

“This is not just about bringing soccer back,” Barton said. “It is about building it correctly. We have taken the time to strengthen our structure, clarify our vision, and ensure that when minor league soccer returns to Waco, it is positioned for long-term success.”

The club’s new badge draws inspiration from Waco’s history and identity. The Waco Suspension Bridge serves as the centerpiece, symbolizing ambition, connection, and forward vision. The club’s colors of navy, gol,d and white represent the Brazos River, a commitment to excellence, and unity within the community.

While league alignment has not yet been formally announced, Waco Soccer Club is targeting a competitive return in 2027 and is actively evaluating league platforms that align with its sustainability goals and long-term ambitions. Club leadership has expressed confidence that Waco is a market capable of supporting a strong minor league soccer presence when built on a stable foundation.

In the coming months, the club will engage with the community through partnerships, grassroots initiatives, and public events aimed at strengthening soccer culture across the region.

“Soccer in Waco deserves consistency, leadership, and vision,” Barton added. “Our goal is to create a club that represents this city with pride and provides meaningful opportunities for players, families, and supporters for years to come.”

Additional updates regarding league participation, partnerships, and community initiatives will be announced as development progresses.
